About Cmsmeridia

What the site is for

Choosing a website platform is a decision a business makes only now and then, and it is easy to get wrong. Some review sites hand out scores and rankings without saying how they were worked out. Platform websites, understandably, lead with their strengths. Cmsmeridia sits between the two: it sets out what each platform costs, what it asks of you and what you can take with you if you leave, using the platforms' own documentation as the main source.

The site covers eight platform guides, four direct comparisons, eight guides on choosing, costing, moving and maintaining a site, and four free tools that run in your browser. Prices are in US dollars, and the guidance on legal topics such as accessibility and privacy refers to the United States.

Who writes it

Content is written and checked under the pen name Andrew Bailey. The site does not claim a newsroom, a testing lab or a team of reviewers. It is one editor working from published sources, and every page shows which sources were used and when they were read.

Three commitments

Three commitments shape the site:

• Show the source. Every price, fee, export rule and support date links to the page it came from.
• Separate facts from views. Where we offer a view, such as who a platform tends to fit, we label it.
• Disclose interests. The owner also runs a web design business, which is not named or linked on this site. There are no affiliate links and no paid placements. The how we make money page explains this in full.

What the site does not do

Cmsmeridia does not sell web design, hosting or platform subscriptions, and it does not rank platforms with star ratings. It has not run performance benchmarks on the platforms, and it does not publish user reviews or testimonials.
