How We Make Money

Short answer: this site does not earn money from the platforms it covers. Its owner also runs a web design business, and you should know that when you read our views.

No affiliate links

Links from Cmsmeridia to WordPress, Webflow, Wix, Squarespace, Shopify, WooCommerce, Drupal, Joomla, Contentful, Sanity, Strapi or any other platform are ordinary links. They carry no tracking codes and earn no commission if you sign up or buy.

No paid placement

No platform has paid to appear on this site, to be listed in a particular order, to be described in a particular way or to be included in the tools. We do not run sponsored articles, and we do not accept free accounts, products or services in exchange for coverage.

No advertising

The site shows no advertising and runs no advertising trackers. The privacy notice and cookie notice explain the small amount of data the site handles.

The owner's web design business

The owner earns money building and improving websites for businesses, and that work can involve the platforms discussed here. The footer of every page says so.

That business is not named, advertised or linked anywhere on Cmsmeridia. If you write to us about having a website built, our reply may describe the owner's web design services, as the privacy notice explains. We disclose the interest because it could, in principle, influence how we describe platforms: someone who earns money from web design might lean toward platforms that need more design work, for instance. Knowing that lets you weigh our views accordingly.

We reduce the effect of that interest in three ways:

  1. Facts on the site come from the platforms' own pages or labeled outside sources, with links, so you can check them without trusting us.
  2. Views are labeled as views, and the scores behind the wizard are published in full.
  3. We include the parts of each platform that cut both ways, including the low-maintenance benefits of hosted builders that need little ongoing design work.

Why we tell you

The Federal Trade Commission's Endorsement Guides say a connection between an endorser and a seller "must be disclosed clearly and conspicuously" when it could affect how people weigh an endorsement (16 CFR 255.5). Our situation is not a paid endorsement, but the principle is sound: readers deserve to know about interests that could color advice. That is why a short disclosure appears in the footer of every page, with a link here.
