Policy

Editorial Policy

The rules we follow when writing and updating pages, and what happens when something turns out to be wrong.

Sources and quotes

Facts come first from the platform's own pages, then from official bodies, then from labeled outside sources. Each page lists its sources with the date they were read. Direct quotes are reproduced exactly and kept short. If we alter punctuation inside a figure, for example replacing a dash with "to" in a price range, we say so.

Facts, views and examples

  • Facts are statements a source supports, such as a price or an export rule.
  • Views are our reading of the facts, such as who a platform tends to fit. They are labeled with phrases like "in our reading".
  • Examples and budgets are labeled as illustrative. They show how to work something out, not what you will pay.

Prices and dates

Prices are in US dollars and are copied from official pricing pages together with their billing term. Each article shows the date of its last price check in the byline. When a page is revised, its prices are checked again.

Platforms and payment

No platform reviews pages before publication or pays for coverage. We do not use affiliate links and do not accept free products in return for coverage. The owner's web design business is disclosed on every page and explained on the how we make money page.

Corrections

If you find an error, write to us through the contact page with the page address and a link to the source. We check every report against the source. When a correction changes a fact, we update the page and its check date. We do not quietly change views to suit a platform's preferences.

Writing for readers

Pages are written for business owners rather than developers. Technical terms are explained the first time they appear, and each guide links to the tools and pages that help with the next step.
